Q. What is the SKELL-A-Thon?
A. The SKELL-A-Thon is South Kitsap Eastern's annual league fundraiser. It is also a hitting competition between individual players and teams during the SKELL-A-Thon Event day.
Q. Why does SKELL do the SKELL-A-Thon?
A. It is a fun way to have the players raise money to keep player registration fees down and helps provide improvements to the complex. It is a healthy competition between individual players and the teams to raise the most money and to have the highest points for the hitting day.
Q. What does my player need to do leading up to the SKELL-A-Thon?
A. The players collect donations prior to the day's event. They can be collected in person or online.
Q. Why should my player participate in the SKELL-A-Thon?
A. The players will receive prizes for collecting donations for themselves, there are over 100 different prizes to choose from. The day of the event, it is important that my player participates in the hitting portion for the player and their team to qualify for the for awards and prizes.
Q. How does the SKELL-A-Thon day go for my player?
A. During the day of the SKELL-A-Thon, players will receive 20 pitches from either off of a Tee (Tee ball only) or a pitching machine, and for each hit they will receive a points depending on the hit. The points are calculated individually for the player and then totaled up for the overall team's points.
Q. What time do I need to show up on SKELL-A-Thon Day?
A. Please show up to SKELL at least 30 min prior to your team's scheduled time.
Q. What do I need to bring with me on the SKELL-A-Thon Day?
A. Bring with you:
Donation form and any donated money that you have collected.
Bring any Corporate/Business Sponsor forms that are filled out.
Your Prize sheet
Wear your full uniform, since this is a SKELL event.
Q. How do I find out when my team is scheduled?
A. Please talk to your team's SKELL-A-Thon Organizer, the time is also on your SKELL-A-Thon packet.
Q. What do I do if it is raining the day of the SKELL-A-Thon Event?
A. Most likely the show will go on if it's raining. If it is raining too much and the event is not able to comince, you will be contacted by your team's SKELL-A-Thon Organizer. We will find time to reschedule the event.
Q. Is a donation to SKELL-A-Thon Tax Deductible?A. Yes. A donor’s entire contribution counts as a charitable contribution since the donor receives no goods or services in exchange for the donation.
Q. My employer has a matching funds program. Does my SKELL contribution qualify for matching funds?
A. Absolutely! The matching fund contributor should have a form for the League to complete. Please include this form when you turn in the rest of donations to your team organizer, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Q. Are corporate matching gifts counted toward the player’s individual contribution total?
A. Yes! It is a contribution raised by that player, so we include it in the player’s total.
Q. My company will match the funds I contribute, as long as SKELL is a qualified non -profit. What information do I need to give them?
A. SKELL is a 501c3 non-profit organization. You will need to provide your company with our non-profit tax id #. The league will provide the non-profit tax ID #. Please contact Brittany Freeze or Kent Hassebrock
Q. When is the donated money due for the SKELL-A-Thon?
A. Donations can be collected prior to the SKELL-A-Thon and turned in when you check in prior to your team's scheduled time to bat on SKELL-A-Thon Day. There will be scheduled days to turn in any money not turned in on SKELL-A-Thon Day at SKELL.
Q. How can people donate through 99 Pledges?

Q. Can we collect cash donations? A. Yes, donations do not have to only come through 99 Pledges. People can donate by cash or check. They can also pay in person by card.
Q. When will I receive my prizes?
A. Prizes will be handed out at the SKELL-A-Thon Awards Ceremony.
